I read this earlier on the Wigan board, seems they still havn't made their minds up as to when it will be implemented.

Always likely to happen once the NRL banned them, can't see it applying until next season in SL.

Completely ridiculous that for a game that's played in a handful of countries we could potentially have three sets of rules.

Christ, we've had the whole off season to sort this out and then three games in we decide to change the rules.

Reminds me, wasn't there a kerfuffle over bonus points been included in the league table format, prior to the first games? Presumably just an error - or they'll start in July, either/or.

I vaguely recall reading about a season, years and years ago, in which the play-the-ball rule was changed twice. One version was a scrum [iafter every single tackle[/i.

Bad decision IMO, its elbows and attacks to the head that should be punished with heavier bans and punishments.

Just checked - it was longer ago than I thought, but up to 1906 that was what happened. Up until then it was still 15-a-side as well:

In rugby league it was decided in 1906, in a determined effort to appeal to spectators and their gate-money, to change teams to 13-a-side and do away with the mandatory scrum after each tackle/"held", replacing it with a more open "play-the-ball rule," where the ball was always visible to those watching from beyond the touchlines.
