Ive just been shopping up Leigh and in the market on that stall that sells cakes and pies, the one next to Jack Leylands bacon stall there is a sign saying "back by popular demand from monday "TAYLORS PIES" I shall purchase a couple on monday but I bet they dont taste like they used too.

If they do please post on here so I can come to Leigh Tuesday and pick some up.

Younger readers should be aware it was the discovery by a pieeater of Taylors pies that led to Leigh,s annexation and ultimately to Taylors pastry mine being exhausted. Seems like another long forgotten pastry vein, previously uneconomical, has recently been discovered.

Think they are doing them at Firs lane chippy too, my mate owns it and he said they were doing there puddings aswell as rag puddings which are gorgeous.

What's a rag pudding ?

a rectangular shaped pudding made with traditional suet but with a silverside beef filling.

Knew about this some weeks ago - I look after one of their delivery vans - been sworn to secrecy



But that has not stopped me salivating at the thought of Taylors pies coming back again - I am assured they will be just as good (secret recipe) Just may have to sample a few to see if they are.
