Even if we retain our championship status what makes everyone so sure Ian is the man for us.

He droped on at Leigh last time with a decent bunch of local young players coming through the ranks and a few good solid old heads in a league that was no where near as strong or as intense as it is today.

Then he got a massive break at Saints when he took over a SL champion side (how often do jiobs like that come along??) and despite continuing the success Mcrea and Hanley had started at Saints he never got anywere near the professionalism, fitness or performance levels out of them that Daniel Anderson achieved.

His alledged ill disapline and arrogant attitude have blighted him in recent years and its fair to say that no SL club was intrested in his sevices.

Wont even mention the Wigan fiasco alot of people made a lot of excuses for Ian as a former leigh idol but fact of the matter is he seriously underachieved with the players and finance at his disposal there.

Yes its a big coup for a championship side but he wont come cheap and will demand a large player budget.

Could it be an expensive gamble that could finally close the doors of our once great club???????

He took a team demoralised and lacking in quality, made two signings and turned us in to title contenders playing a scintillating brand of rugby.

his record speaks for it self he took leigh from a crap team to a good eam wth a couple of signings and good coaching, he made saints into a winning team from a nearly team, he didnt do much at the humbes i admit but i thin that had a lot to do with player power there and off field influences, but as wonder try says only time will tell this time round

From what I know about Ian Millward - He will have the say about all matters Leigh RL - and that makes me

Rather have him than rowley, kelly, shaw, etc. I remember the first time round, he got us playing the most exciting rugby I've seen a Leigh team play since the early eighties when we had woody, des, fox etc. Can't wait for him to takeover whichever division we are in.

If that were completely true, it would not have provoked such an instant response. The original post made some good points about Ian's perceived weaknesses.

My view is that he has vast experience and good connections and it should work well for us.
