| A lot of people were tipping the Broncos for the top 8, do you guys still think that?

| Yes. Two decent performances against Saints and Hull, and a blow-out against Wire. Next week will be a loss too, as Huddersfield are stronger. But at some point, the Broncos will start playing Wakey, Widnes, Salford, Bradford, Castleford, and I'd be surprised if they weren't all wins. Catalans and Hull KR too close to call at present. At this stage, still top 8.
If the first four games were against bottom table sides, and it still stood as 4 losses, then I think it'd be time to send up distress flares. But not yet.

Really? apart from a criminal waste of effort from the team on behalf of Dixon and Clubb, what other elements of last night constituted "decent"?

| Bryant was very good too, I thought.
I think London always suffer in televised away games, because when they have the ball, there's no crowd noise, and it's hard to seem as if you're doing anything decent on TV if everything is greeted with silence.
The commentary team decided early on that their pitch was going to be that London were woeful. But I recall a set in the first half where, as the two clowns were droning on about how dreadful London were, the Broncos received the ball on their 10 metres, drove it unspectacularly up to the Hull 40m, and then finished with a kick in the corner which saw a good chase trap the ball returner on his own 10. A good set by anyone's standard. The commentators, though, didn't notice - they had their narrative and were going to stick with it.
They played unspectacular rugby, and it was very 5 drives-and-a-kick, and I imagine that was a deliberate ploy to go back to basics after the hammering by Warrington. I'd have lied to see Gower get the ball in hand more, and it needed to go wider more, as Hull were often stretched on the outside, particularly after the sending-off. But diastrous it was not. Hull are a good side : they were bringing O'Meley and Westerman off the bench - two players who would be absolute stars in the London squad. Yet London matched them through most of the game, despite the fact that the traditional absence of crowd noise meant that Hull could lie on significantly longer in the tackle than London, throughout the game.
I watched plenty of abject surrenders and outclassed disasters last year. That wasn't one of those. It was a decent performance against a strong side who are probably top 5 material.

| Only good point (Apart from Dixon's effort) was Gower after the match he does look motivated and spoke some real sense. Lets hope that the hudds game is a good one with
1/ No silly penalties.
2/ A kicking game that turns the defence
3/ Utilise Dixons obvious pace. This will keep their full back from joining the defensive line as they seem to do against Us.
4/ Intensity from the kick off.

| I thought there were some decent performers for you last night, specifically Clubb and Dixon, neither of who gave up, and Gower who got you out of jail with his kicking game. You would have beaten a few teams with that performance, and you are still gelling as a team.

'"
A defence that gets players to the ground instead of just leaning on
An attack that isnt frightened to pass to the centres
A game plan that has more than driving into a pack that is more dominant that ours
A defence that comes of the 10 metres with some decent line speed
Tacklers tackling with there shoulders and not there arms
Urgency from the tackler having made a tackle and getting of the ground and getting either into marker or back into the line instead of dordling or just laying on the floor
URGENCY or 80 mins

| Urgency and cutting out silly penalties are the key points. Dixon was a big plus.

Think Dixon summed up what was wrong with us. Only time he got the ball, apart from coming in to look for it, was on the forward pass.

I put $10 a week into a "home play-off" fund, to cover my flight back should we get a home Play-off......on the evidence of yesterday, I will be flying either first class, or maybe even in my own plane befoe the fund gets used!
