Sounds like a bit of a non-story to me. We've know for a few weeks that the site infrastructure work tender has gone out for start in March and therefore the Stadium won't be ready 'til mid-late 2011. I can't imagine why the club would consider paying rent to play anywhere other than the Willows in the intervening period.

| The worrying bit about the whole article for me is the last sentence.
'No one from Peel Holdings was available for comment', which is owrrying as a brief comment would i'm sure have gone a long way to reassure the fans.
I'll give it till maybe 20:00 for the people who remain doubtfull that the stadium will ever be built to be blindly reassured by certain people that it will be built and to keep faith.
I get more and more sceptical with each passing disapointment, Dave Tarry saying he hoped a clearer picture would appear in 'about a month' are hardly the words of someonewith great confidence.

| If I was in your shoes and in the current state of our game and country I would stay right where you are at the Willows. It is no where near a crap ground. I really enjoy going there and so do a lot of species. You can get a good crowd on and you have what every RL fan needs, a good club that sells a good pint. Just because we at Leigh have a new ground dont get frustrated. When the Willows goes it will be just as sad as when we left Hilton Park. If I was on your board I would be concentrating on getting a good team on the field that can constantly make the top 8, get the crowds up and then really get the new stadium going. You have two years anyway and look to move into it by 2013.

| While pleased at your comments about our ground and much as i love the place we really do have to move. Its as much about the surrounding areas of the Willows (dark alleys, scallies damaging cars etc) as the ground itself. While we may have been able to cosmetically alter The Willows and bring the inside up to date im afraid its current location is a problem. Almost every game we play at home brings a number of away fans drawing attention to cars damaged. While the people damaging cars are not Fans of our club they do use the dark unfriendly surroundings in which to unleash their malevolance.
So we have to move, sad as it is to see old grounds dissapear its become inevitable really.

The article in the MEN is just a space filler by Neal Kealing and is in my opinion a "no story" and to say that it was hidden away was a bit of an overstatement.
Anyone who has shown an interest in the stadium knows that it has been delayed for several reasons and as people have said before Peel Land(Red City) are now going to develop the stadium site on the clubs behalf.
There is an advertisement in the Advertiser today Page 48 under Public and Legal Notices, bottom left of page, connected with the ground remediation works and associated access arrangements which proves that things are moving in the right direction albeit slower than we all would have liked it to go.
There was a previous application a few weeks ago for the stadium itself and although I am not in the construction industry it seems to me that Peel Land(Red City) have everything on hand to deliver what we all want for the club.
We may have to stay at the Willows a little longer than we had expected to but so what, there is as much chance of us playing at Leigh as there is of Neil Barker getting a news scoop.
